Legal Malpractice - Humboldt County,
California. May, 2001
Confidential Settlement: $900,000.00
This case was against a Northern California
law firm arising out of the failure of the firm to properly
advise a client on the terms and effect of a settlement agreement
which the client entered into believing it was to be the end
of his involvement in the litigation. That turned out to be
incorrect, and he had to pay an additional $1,500,000 to settle
the case. This case was referred to us from another legal
malpractice lawyer who had recommended to the client that
he accept a $50,000 settlement. When the client balked, the
attorney referred the case to us. (Spring, 2001)
