If success in the legal field is measured by favorable settlements and victory in the courtroom, as well as the recognition given by peers and clients, then by all accounts, we are successful.  We’ve recovered tens of millions of dollars for our clients in cases brought against some of the largest firms in the country. We litigate our clients’ cases tenaciously, recognizing that very often, the best settlements are not achieved until the case is close to trial.

We have also achieved some professional distinctions. For over 12 years we have held the highly respected AV rating from Martindale‑Hubbell, an independent organization that rates firms on ethics and ability.  The AV rating is the highest rating given to any lawyer or law firm, and is awarded to less than 5% of lawyers in the country.  The firm is listed in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers and William Gwire has been selected (by an independent poll of lawyers) as a Northern California “SuperLawyer".  In addition, in an independent poll of attorneys in California, Mr. Gwire was selected as one of only a handful of “go to” legal malpractice lawyers in the State of California.  Most recently, Mr. Gwire was selected (again by an independent evaluation panel) as one of Worth Magazine’s Top 100 Lawyers in the United States (Dec. 2005), and the only legal malpractice attorney selected.

Since 1989, Gwire Law Offices has been handling, on a near exclusive basis, cases involving legal malpractice, legal fee disputes and attorney ethical violations.  Unlike other firms where attorney conduct work is only a small portion of their practice, legal malpractice, fee disputes and attorney ethics issues is all we do.  We do not do any defense work and represent onlyclients wronged by their lawyers.

Where We Do Our Work
While we are based in San Francisco and most of our work is in Northern California, we handle legal malpractice, fee disputes, and ethics cases throughout California including major cases in Central and Southern California. On suitable cases, we will co-counsel with attorneys in other states.
